Hazardous Waste Disposal Sacramento
The City of West Sacramento has partnered with Yolo County to provide Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-Off Days every Friday and Saturday, 7:30am to 3:30pm at the Yolo County Central Landfill. Senior and residents with disabilities who are unable to drive are eligible for free pick-up of household hazardous waste including medications and sharps. Qualified residents may call (916) 617-4656 to schedule a pick-up appointment.
The landfill accepts e-waste, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, used motor oil & filters and auto batteries 7 days a week. Monday through Saturday 6:30 am to 5:00pm, Sunday 9:00am to 4:00pm.
Household batteries, including alkaline, lithium and rechargeable batteries may be dropped off at City offices and several other locations throughout the city. Please click here for a list of collection sites.
Fluorescent Bulb Recycling
IKEA accepts compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) during their normal business hours of 10am to 9pm M-Sun. IKEA is located at 700 Ikea Ct., West Sacramento. (916) 371-4532
Home Depot accepts compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and fluorescent tubes. Home Depot is located at 690 Riverpoint Ct., West Sacramento. (916) 617-2128.

Medicine Drop-off Program
Drop off your expired and unwanted medications at the Yolo County Central Landfill, 44090 Country Road 28H, Woodland, CA 95776 every Friday and Saturday between 7:30a.m. and 3:30p.m. What Can Be Collected: Prescription and over-the-counter drugs, pet medications, and medicated liquids and ointments.
Controlled Substance prescriptions such as (e.g., Vicodin, Ritalin, codeine, valium, etc.) may be taken the West Sacramento Police Department at 550 Jefferson Blvd. For more info about medication disposal visit dontrushtoflush.org/

SharpsSharps are banned from landfill disposal and include hypodermic needles, pen needles, intravenous needles, lancets, and devices used to penetrate the skin for the delivery of medications. Containerized Sharps may be dropped off at the Yolo County Central landfill, every Friday and Saturday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, as part of their Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program. Please note, senior and residents with disabilities, who are unable to drive, are eligible for free pick-up of household hazardous waste including paint, batteries, fluorescent bulbs & Sharps.
