Food Waste Disposal: New Technology To Help Environment & Business

Food Waste Disposal Machines

ANAHEIM, CA (February 19-21, 2014) – Champion® Industries, manufacturer of a full line of premier commercial warewashing systems, is proud to showcase its newest innovation, the Champion Foodwaste Reduction System during the NAFEM Show, February 19-21, 2015, at the Anaheim Convention Center, booth #3212.

The system will be operating in the NAFEM booth and integrated with BiLine and Champion rack conveyor for a complete wash/waste management system. The Champion Foodwaste Reduction system, designed for the collecting, processing and diverting commercial food waste, eliminates the need to move organic waste between machines and solves the source separated organics problem in any kitchen.

The Foodwaste Reduction System is fully customizable, designed to meet the unique needs of any facility from restaurants to hospitals, schools and other institutions. This system can process all organics including: produce, fruits, cut flowers, meat, fat trimmings, paper napkins, coffee grounds, spoiled milk, deli products and some soft plastics reducing organic waste volume by as much as 95 percent.

The system transports waste from the Bi-Line conveyor trough into the Slow Speed Grinder (SSG). The SSG features alloy steel cutters and 13 cam-shaped teeth allowing it to process up to 1, 250 pounds of food service waste per hour. After passing through the SSG a ¾ HP pump is used to transfer the macerated solids to a centrifugal waste dewater with a 1.5 HP centrifugal-type remote extractor. Once the waste has passed through the centrifuge it is dropped into the Phoenix dehydrator. The Phoenix converts the remaining moisture to steam producing a dried, sterile biomass soil amendment that is easily collected and diverted from the facility.

The Foodwaste Reduction System’s modular design allows the centrifuge and Phoenix dehydrator elements to be located remotely. This design allows maximum flexibility in design setup and offers total odor control and reduces ventilation requirements. The system guarantees no pathogen, biohazard or harmful emissions keeping the facility, staff and environment safe.

“Champion is committed to providing foodservice operators with simple, cost-effective, energy saving and performance enhancing solutions for commercial kitchens, ” said Will Means, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Champion and Bi-Line Conveyor Systems.
